Anita Klein

Anita klein

Anita Klein was born in Sydney, Australia before moving to England when she was 11. She studied at both Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School of Art where she was awarded the Henrique Scholarship in 1982 and 1983. Anita was elected Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1992, Fellow in 1995, and she served as President of the Society from 2003 to 2006. Public collections of her work include the British Museum and Arts Council England and she has exhibited across Britain, Europe, America and Australia including at the ICA and the Royal Academy in London. Most recently, she was awarded Printmaker of the Year at the 2020 Printfest International Festival of Printmaking.

Anita Klein’s art is an archive of personal moments with which everyone can identify. Witty, charismatic, warm and poignant, she is one of Britain's finest and most prominent artists and printmakers. Her work catalogues her life and is autobiographical with images of her children, grandchildren and of course her husband and self. They are both bold and tender at the same time and the palette used brings a clarity and warmness to her work .

She is a prolific artist and whether she is on holiday , in her study in Tuscany or working in London she is compelled to paint . We particularly like her acrylic on paper work and have a number in our personal and family collection .
