This work is one of a number that came from the private collection of a well known and highly regarded author and it was gifted to her by the famous New York children’s book publisher Margaret McElderry and still retains an address label for such verso . McElderry also published the works of Lucy Boston who was a great personal friend of Elisabeth Vellacott and she became enchanted by her paintings buying a number from her New Art Centre exhibitions at the late 1960’s and 1970’s .
