This work is one of a number that came from the private collection of a well known and highly regarded author and it was gifted to her by the famous New York children’s book publisher Margaret McElderry. McElderry also published the works of Lucy Boston who was a great personal friend of Elisabeth Vellacott and she became enchanted by her paintings buying a number from her New Art Centre exhibitions at the late 1960’s and 1970’s .
The original exhibition label is still affixed verso, together with the artists handwritten details to the back of the board.
