Lucy visited their stud in Sussex  and this is one of the sketches from that visit. Belka is the subject of at least two full size oil paintings commissioned by the owner after his marriage to Audrey Thorne. There is a wealth of information about this subject on pages 139 - 143 in the publication "The spirit of the horse " By Laura Wortley.
