Martin Leman

Martin Leman was born in 1934 in London. He attended Art school in Worthing after which he studied at The Central School of Art and Design and for several years he worked as a graphic designer and taught at Hornsey College of Art, London College of Printing and St. Martin̛̛s School of Art.

Martin Leman has a special affinity with Cornwall and in particular St Ives, where he and his wife Jill had a home and which forms the background to some of his most notable cat paintings and his some what forgotten etchings . '

Martin Leman is a regular exhibitor at London's Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and his etchings were extremely popular in the 1980 & 90’s. His paintings are held in many private art collections throughout the world.
